Urdu Digest

Urdu Digest is a monthly magazine of Pakistan. It is first Digest of Pakistan, 1st print published on November 1960 in Lahore. Appearance is similar to the famous USA monthly, Reader's Digest. It is popular among upper, middle and lower middle classes of Pakistan. Its writings present a traditional way of religious Pakistani life and covers a large variety of topics. Urdu Digest is constantly performing the duty of character building and consciousness of Pakistanis for the last 51 years. Magazine also has been serving to strengthen the ideology of Pakistan and promoting national integration.

Dr. Ejaz Hasan Qureshi, Altaf Hasan Qureshi and Malik Zafar Ullah Khan are its pioneers and editors. Abad Shah Puri, Zia Shahid, Mohsen Farahani, Syed Asim Mahmood & Muhammad Iqbal Qureshi are prominent Sub Editors who have been attached to this digest for many years. Digest published translations of international literary stories, adventure stories, hunting stories and articles on science& Technology, history, Animals, education, health, positive politics extra.

From 2003, administration of Urdu Digest is also running Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation, an non commercial charitable organization to save & promote resource less talent of Pakistan. Foundation has been providing financial assistance to deserving talented students who secure more than 75% marks in Matric and Intermediate Examinations, irrespective of creed and domicile and are pursuing education in professional and higher academic institutions in the fields of Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Commerce and Agriculture particularly.[1]
